If you’re like me, you have your iPhone locked most of the time to prevent accidental pocket-dials and the like. But sometimes you just want to quickly stop the music without having to unlock your phone. Luckily, there’s a quick and easy way to do this.
Just long-press the power button on your iPhone (or the Home button on older models) and a slider will appear at the top of the screen. Dragging this slider to the right will stop the music and take you back to your lock screen. If you want to continue playing the song from where you left off, just long-press the power button again (or double-click the Home button on older models) and the music will resume playing. And that’s all there is to it! With this quick and easy tip, you can now stop your music without ever having to unlock your iPhone.
Why is my iphone playing music by itself
There are a few possible causes for this. It could be that you have an app open that is playing music in the background, or it could be that your iPhone is stuck in Repeat mode. To check if an app is playing music in the background, double-click the Home button and swipe through your open apps to see if any of them are playing music. If so, just close out of the app and the music should stop.
If your iPhone is stuck in Repeat mode, go to the Music app and tap on the song that’s playing. Then tap on the repeat icon (it looks like a loop) at the bottom of the screen until it is no longer highlighted. This should stop the music from repeating. If neither of these solutions work, it’s possible that you have a hardware issue and you may need to take your iPhone to an Apple Store or authorized service provider for further diagnosis.
Go to your phone’s settings and select “Touch ID & Passcode”
If you have an iPhone with a Home button: Press and hold the Side button and either volume button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off. After your iPhone turns off, press and hold the Side button again until you see the Apple logo.
If you have an iPhone without a Home button: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo. When your iPhone restarts, go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that Touch ID is turned on for iPhone Unlock, iTunes & App Store, or Apple Pay. If you can’t turn on Touch ID, contact Apple Support. If you still can’t unlock your device or use Touch ID, try restarting your device. If that doesn’t work, contact Apple Support.
Scroll down and disable the “Music Controls” setting
There is a setting in the Control Center that can cause your music to play even when your iPhone is locked. To disable this, go to Settings > Control Center and scroll down to the “Music Controls” setting. Turn this off and your music should no longer play when your iPhone is locked.
