What are emoji? According to Google search, emoji are “a small digital image or icon used to express an idea or emotion in electronic communication.” Emoji are created by the Unicode Consortium, which is a non-profit organization that handles issues with worldwide computing. The first Unicode Emoji standard was published in October, 2010 and currently consists of 722 characters. There are now 16 different emoji categories, including People, Celebrations and Events, Food and Drink, Animals and Nature, Symbols, Transportation and Places and Activities.

Emoji in an online communication tool: one of the most popular and recognized emoji is 😂, which stands for “Laughing Out Loud”, or when someone says something that is funny or hysterical. Additionally, 🚰, which represents a “[Baby] Potty” has recently been added to the Unicode list of emoji. Some people may find this emoji offensive, however, because of the association with baby poop.

Why are emoji important?

People all over the world communicate using apps like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and iMessage. Emoji allows for users to show how they feel without having to type out words. According to Business Insider , 59% of people use emoji regularly. Emoji has become an integral part in day-to-day communication now.

How can emoji be used?

There are several ways to use emoji. First, you can copy and paste them into your message or post. The other way is to simply click on the ‘smiley face’ icon that appears whenever you write something in a text box. If there are emoji that aren’t showing up please make sure that your internet connection is working, and that you have the latest operating system.

A third way to use emoji is by using them as stickers on other social media platforms like Facebook, iMessage or Twitter. Stickers are images that can be sent right from your keyboard. On iMessage, for example, you simply find an emoji you like and double tap on it in your keyboard to add the sticker. Then you can send the emoji in an iMessage conversation with friends or family.

Where can I find more emoji?

You can use the Unicode Emoji Portal to see all of the current Unicode Emoji characters, and when they were released. You can also find emojis on Unicode’s website by searching for emoji in the search bar at the top of the page.

How to change the color of your emojis

If you want a particular emoji to be in color, you must type the emoji in the relevant field, then copy and paste it into your message or post when you are ready. You can also add a color to your text by clicking on the smiley face icon that appears when you write in a text box. If there is no color option you have written the emoji incorrectly.
